TIMES SINGAPORE, JAKARTA – The 1445 H/2024 M Hajj pilgrimage saw a significant technological innovation with the introduction of the Kawal Haji application by the Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH). Designed to streamline the management of pilgrim complaints and needs, this app has proven to be highly effective in ensuring a smoother and more responsive service.

Nasrullah Jasam, the Chairman of PPIH in Saudi Arabia, highlighted the app's success, noting its efficiency in addressing various issues. "So far, the Kawal Haji application has been quite effective. Many problems can be resolved quickly because the information is so up-to-date and is received directly by PPIH, allowing us to address it immediately," said Nasrullah in Jeddah on July 2, 2024.

The Kawal Haji app has gained considerable traction among pilgrims, with over 12,000 downloads and 3,334 reports submitted by July 1, 2024. This high engagement demonstrates the app's vital role in the pilgrimage process. "More than three thousand reports have been submitted, and almost all of them have been quickly resolved," Nasrullah confirmed.

A key feature contributing to the app's effectiveness is its 24-hour monitoring system. PPIH has six operators working in shifts to ensure continuous oversight and prompt response to incoming reports. Each complaint is directed to the appropriate department for swift resolution. For example, catering issues are forwarded to the Head of Catering, followed by action from regional heads and catering staff in the relevant sectors.

The inclusion of a GPS feature significantly enhances the app's utility, particularly in locating pilgrims who have become separated from their groups. "This GPS feature is extremely helpful, especially for finding pilgrims who have been separated from their groups. Looking ahead, we hope to further refine this application and promote it earlier so that all Indonesian pilgrims can benefit from it," Nasrullah added.

The Kawal Haji app also provides a platform for pilgrims to express their appreciation for the services rendered. "We are grateful to the pilgrims who have shown their appreciation through the Kawal Haji application. PPIH is committed to continuously improving the quality of services for the pilgrims," Nasrullah concluded.

The Kawal Haji application stands out as a critical innovation in enhancing the efficiency and responsiveness of Hajj services, ensuring that pilgrims' needs are met promptly and effectively. (*)
