TIMES SINGAPORE, JAKARTA – Health Agency of PBNU (Lembaga Kesehatan PBNU) through  Dr. Rheza Maulana S. offers an array of healthy fasting tips. These insights are provided by the esteemed doctors who are members of LK PBNU, aiming to assist the fasting individuals in maintaining their well-being throughout this sacred period.

This collaboration underscores the importance of health education and the dissemination of beneficial practices during Ramadan. Observing the fast during the holy month of Ramadan doesn't mean cutting down on physical activities. In fact, engaging in light and regular exercise throughout Ramadan can offer numerous health benefits.

Participating in physical activities can boost stamina and energy, assist in maintaining ideal body weight, improve sleep quality, enhance the immune system, and increase positive hormones that reduce stress and anxiety. Furthermore, exercising with family members can foster togetherness and harmony within the household, create a fun and positive environment, and cultivate a healthy and active lifestyle from an early age, especially for children.

Easy Physical Activities

Dr. Rheza Maulana S., an official of the PBNU Health Institution, suggests several easy and healthy physical activities that families can enjoy together during Ramadan:

1). Walking or Riding a Bike

These activities are easy to do and suitable for family members of all ages. "Choose safe and comfortable routes and adjust the pace to everyone's ability," explains Dr. Rheza.

2). Light Workouts

You can perform a variety of light exercises at home, such as yoga, aerobics, or stretching. Enhance your routine by following online video tutorials or exercise programs on TV.

3). Traditional Games

Playing traditional games like hide and seek, jumping ropes, or stilts can be a fun and healthy physical activity that also strengthens bonds between parents and children.

4). Household Chores

Getting children involved in household chores, such as tidying up, washing dishes, or cooking, can be beneficial. It's an opportunity to teach kids the importance of cleanliness, starting with their own rooms.

Tips for Exercise During Ramadan

Exercise should be light, moderate, and not forced. Choose the right time to exercise, such as before breaking the fast, and avoid midday workouts in the hot sun.

Consult a doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially if you have specific health conditions.

Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water at Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and Iftar (meal to break the fast) to prevent dehydration. "Make sure your exercise doesn't interfere with your Ramadan worship activities," advises Dr. Rheza.

Let's use the month of Ramadan as an opportunity to enhance our devotion and health and fitness with our families. Encourage all family members to engage in healthy and enjoyable physical activities. (*)
