TIMES SINGAPORE, JAKARTABipang Ambawang of West Kalimantan has become one controversial food lately. It was started when the President of Indonesia stated this food as one gifts that you could give as a presents to your family during mudik or coming home in this Eid al-Fitr.

Well, actually its not a big deal, for during Eid al-Fitr not only muslims who will go back to their home town but also non muslims. Well, enough with the trash talk. Lets's check what Bipang Ambawang actually is. 

Bipang is a portmanteau of Babi Panggang or literally means Roasted Pork. This dish has been well known in Ambawang, Pontianak, West Kalimantan which has more non muslim community compared to the muslim one. 

This food has been well known to be the typical dish of this are. And lots f people coming for this food. Taken from the official account of Bipang Ambawang Restaurant, the pork were taken from 3-5 months old pig which weight around 3-7 kg. 

The pork will be marinated with some spices and soy sauce before its grilled. It takes several hours to grill one Bipang. The longer process made this dish has such soft and tender texture. The crispy skin on the outside make will make you want some more. 

The local will usually serve Bipang Ambawang with rice as the staple food, some sauce and salsa, and raw vegetables for the addition.so what do you think? Will you put this dish on your list when you visit West Kalimantan?
