MAKKAHAmrillah, a hajj officer stationed at Post G, the guarding post in Mina, has the important responsibility of guiding Indonesian hajj pilgrims to their allocated accommodation centers, known as "maktab." With utmost vigilance, Amrillah ensures that each Indonesian pilgrim is directed accurately amidst the large crowds.

Just like a hunter, Amrillah keep an eye on the Indonesian pilgrims exiting the tunnel after completing the "jumrah" ritual. He had one job, to make sure all the Indonesian pilgrim to be able to find the right way to go back to their maktab (tent).

In this matter, it is crucial for him to distinguish between Indonesian hajj pilgrims and those from other countries, as all pilgrims return from the jamarat simultaneously. This distinction allows for efficient and organized guidance, preventing any confusion or misplacement of pilgrims. As an Indonesian hajj officer hailing from Kudus, Central Java, Amrillah explained the challenges faced at his post.

The Challenges Faced by Amrillah in Escorting the Pilgrims

One of the challenges encountered by Amrillah at Post G is identifying elderly pilgrims who persist in going to the jamarat despite their weakened physical condition, without heeding the advice to perform the ritual on their behalf. These elderly pilgrims may face difficulty due to their physical limitations, making it risky for them to participate in the physically demanding jamarat rites. Unfortunately, some of them may insist on performing the ritual themselves, potentially endangering their own well-being.

To address this concern, Amrillah and his fellow officers at Post G must exercise empathy and understanding while persuading the elderly pilgrims to choose the safer option of having a substitute perform the jamarat on their behalf. They patiently communicate the importance of prioritizing their health and safety, reminding them that fulfilling the hajj pilgrimage does not solely depend on personal physical exertion. Rather, it is the genuine intention and the spiritual connection that truly matters.

A Comprehensive Undertanding Appealed to the Pilgrims

Furthermore, Amrillah and his team ensure that thorough medical assessments are conducted on elderly pilgrims who exhibit persistent determination to undertake the jamarat ritual despite their physical vulnerability. These assessments help provide a comprehensive understanding of the pilgrims' conditions and further emphasize the importance of making the right decision for their overall well-being.

While the nature of Amrillah's duty is challenging, his dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of Indonesian hajj pilgrims remains unwavering. Recognizing the diverse needs and limitations of the pilgrims, officers like Amrillah play a vital role in guiding and supporting them throughout their journey in fulfilling this sacred religious duty.

Amrillah's role as a hajj officer at Post G exemplifies the significance of accurate guidance and compassionate care for Indonesian hajj pilgrims. By efficiently differentiating between pilgrims and addressing the challenges faced with elderly participants, Amrillah contributes to a safe and meaningful hajj experience for his fellow countrymen.
