TIMES SINGAPORE, JAKARTA – Medan is one of the unique places in North Sumatra. They had much kind of traditions and various destinations in it. But the most iconic destination at their place is their lake that known as the deepest lake in the world until now and that is the Lake Toba.

Lake Toba is the popular destination in Indonesia. It is around 1,707 square kilometers wid. Someone said that the lake itself was 1,000 km wider than Singapore. The story about how this lake was created is from the fatal eruptions about 70,000 years ago. The eruption caused massive death count for most of the creatures that lives in there.

But then, the mountain was transformed into the large lake after that. Some people even consider this place as a small ocean rather than a lake itself. It has stunning crystal-clear water with picturesque sceneries around.

You will find lots of attractions around Lake Toba. You could roam around the lake by kayaking or riding a boat the management has prepared to be rented to the visitors. The tourist also can enjoy Tor-Tor dance from Batak tribe. Little did you know, this dance was used by the local as their rituals in invoking spirits.

At the center of the lake, there was a small lake that make the scenery more exotic. The island was so called as Samosir.  It’s situated 1,000 meters above the sea. Inside the island, there’s two more lake named Lake Aek Sidihoni and Lake Natonang. The Lake was filled by the pine forest that makes it more beautiful for the tourist.
