TIMES SINGAPORE, JAKARTA – The relationship between Indonesia and Russia has grown increasingly close in recent years. Both countries share similar views on several global issues, particularly in supporting a multipolar world order. This common ground served as the foundation for the World Territory of Meanings Forum, which also saw the participation of NYC Indonesia.
The strong bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Russia provided an essential backdrop for NYC Indonesia’s participation in this forum. By sending an Indonesian delegation, it is hoped that cooperation and mutual understanding between the youth of both nations will deepen. The forum offered a platform to strengthen these ties through direct discussion and collaboration.
NYC Indonesia is a youth organization focused on empowering and developing the potential of Indonesia's younger generation on the international stage. They sent their best delegates to participate in the World Territory of Meanings Forum in Moscow, Russia, held from August 19 to 23, 2024.
The event was organized by the World Youth Festival Directorate and served as a crucial gathering for young people worldwide. They engaged in discussions about the concept of a multipolar world and the role of youth in shaping a more inclusive and just future.
NYC Indonesia is known for its active participation in international activities, focusing on leadership development and cross-cultural collaboration. Their involvement in the forum in Russia is a strategic step aimed at introducing Indonesia's vision for a more balanced world order. This mission is rooted in the principles of Pancasila.
The World Territory of Meanings Forum was attended by 200 young people from 66 countries, including 100 Russian youth and 100 international participants.
The theme of the forum, "Territory of the Multipolar World," emphasized the importance of creating a more inclusive and just multipolar world order. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and officials from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present, along with global experts who contributed to the discussions on this world order.
NYC Indonesia was represented by two main delegates, Fauzul Azhim and Zalfa Khansa Nabila. Two additional delegates, Gisela Thesa from INPC for WYF and Gavriel Fernaldy from Koper Russia, also took part. Their mission was to voice Indonesia's perspective amid global dynamics.
The forum lasted five days, during which the Indonesian delegation interacted with young people from various countries, engaging in discussions about global challenges and seeking joint solutions.
Fauzul Azhim, Chairman of NYC Indonesia, expressed pride in Indonesia’s participation in the forum. "This forum is a valuable opportunity for us to voice Indonesia’s views on the importance of a multipolar world order," he stated.
Zalfa Khansa Nabila, Deputy Chair of NYC Indonesia, emphasized the forum’s importance as a platform for building relationships among the world’s youth. "We hope to bring back new experiences and knowledge that we can implement in Indonesia," she said.
NYC Indonesia's participation has strengthened bilateral relations between Indonesia and Russia. Additionally, it has opened new opportunities for international collaboration. With the spirit of Multipolar the Indonesian delegation introduced a unique perspective on building a more balanced, harmonious, and just world order. The forum also demonstrated that Indonesian youth are ready to play an active role in global forums and strengthen diplomatic ties with friendly nations like Russia.(*)
