TIMES SINGAPORE, JAKARTA – Jakarta’s Tugu Kunstkring Paleis will once again open its historic halls to a tradition steeped in grace and artistry: ballroom dancing. This special event, entitled “An Afternoon of Elegance” will be held by September 30th, 2025. 

The event invites guests to step back into a bygone era where elegance, culture, and music defined the city’s social life. More than just a dance gathering, the afternoon promises to be a celebration of heritage, artistry, and timeless charm.

Originally established in 1914 as the Nederlandsch Indische Kunstkring (Fine Arts Circle of the Dutch East Indies), Kunstkring has played a vital role as a hub of creativity and culture.

During its golden years, between 1934 and 1939, it hosted exhibitions of international masters such as Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Paul Gauguin, and Marc Chagall.

Today, under the care of Tugu Hotels & Restaurants, the building continues to carry this legacy, offering a space where the beauty of art, history, and performance come alive.

Adding to the allure, the afternoon will feature a captivating performance by the Philippines’ National Champion ballroom couple, Ana Nualla-Aranar and Sean Aranar. Their artistry will set the tone for the event, blending technical mastery with emotional expression.

Beyond the showcase, an Open Dance Floor session will welcome both seasoned dancers and enthusiastic first-timers to join the rhythm and share in the joy of movement.
