TIMES SINGAPORE, JAKARTA – Moringa leaf also known as kelor, is popular among the Indonesian people. Plants that thrive in these tropical regions have tremendous health benefits.
Thanks to its complete nutritional content, moringa leaves are referred to as a natural superfood. It can be processed into various types of dishes, ranging from clear vegetables to mixtures in juices.
The leaves have long been used in traditional medicine. It is believed to be able to increase immunity, maintain eye health, and help lower blood sugar levels.
According to research, it contains higher protein, vitamin C, calcium, potassium, and iron compared to other green vegetables. In fact, some health experts suggest Kelor leaves as a natural alternative to overcome various health problems.
One of the connoisseurs of moringa leaves, Ratna Dewi (38), who regularly consumes the leaf as one source of vegetables, revealed the positive benefits she felt. She shares her story after taking the vegetables for several days consecutively.
"I used to often feel tired and had trouble sleeping. But since trying to eat Kelor leaf vegetables, my body feels fresher and I sleep better," said Ratna. She admitted that she was initially curious about the benefits of Kelor leaves after reading a health article, and finally tried to cook it as a simple clear vegetable.
Ratna also added that the taste of Kelor leaves is very light and easy to combine with various other ingredients. "It is not bitter, in fact it is a bit neutral, so it is easy to process. Usually, I add a little garlic and salt, so it tastes good," she said.
Although moringa are rich in health benefits, it is recommended not to consume them excessively. Some nutrition experts say that excessive consumption of Kelor leaves can cause indigestion for some people. Therefore, it is best to consume it in reasonable portions and according to the needs of the body.
With its high nutritional content and abundant health benefits, it is no wonder that it is increasingly popular as one of the healthy vegetables in Indonesia. Moringa or kelor can be a good alternative to increase nutrient intake and maintain a healthy body naturally. (*)
