MADINAHThe Hajj Officials have urged pilgrims not to exert themselves by performing the Arbaeen prayer in Medina. This is due to the extreme weather conditions in the city where the Prophet Muhammad migrated.

According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Medina is predicted to experience its peak heat in the next eight days, from July 12th to July 19th, 2023. The temperature during the day can reach 45-47 degrees Celsius, while at night it can still range from 31-33 degrees Celsius. The average humidity level is expected to be around 6-12 percent, with wind speeds ranging from 19-25 kilometers per hour. This makes the days of summer in Medina the hottest.

"We advise against forcing the Arbaeen prayer, especially for elderly pilgrims. We will continue to remind the group leaders and regional hajj officials to closely monitor their respective pilgrims," said Zaenal Muttaqin, the Head of the Hajj Officials in Daker Madinah on Monday (10th July 2023).

It is known that the second wave of pilgrims is now starting their journey from Makkah to Medina. Some of them have expressed their hopes of being able to perform the Arbaeen prayer at the Prophet's Mosque.

Zaenal hopes that the pilgrims can maintain their health until they return to their homeland. He advises them not to engage in physical activities that exceed their capabilities, as this may lead to exhaustion.

Moreover, the pilgrims have just completed the peak rituals of the Hajj, such as Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (also known as Armina), as well as the Thawaf Ifadah, Sai, and the Farewell Tawaf in Makkah.

"Furthermore, yesterday, we received an advisory for pilgrims in Makkah not to perform the Friday prayer at the Grand Mosque but rather at the nearest mosque around their hotels. This also applies to Medina next week," added Zaenal.

Meanwhile, according to the data from the Integrated Hajj Information and Computer System (Siskohat) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, 20 groups of pilgrims departed on the first day of the second wave's movement from Makkah to Medina. They will stay there for 8 days before being repatriated to Indonesia via the Amir Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz Airport.

During their stay in Medina, the pilgrims can continue their worship at the Prophet's Mosque, visit the burial place of the Prophet Muhammad and the Raudah, and explore various Islamic heritage sites. The Hajj Officials in Daker Madinah have made the necessary preparations to welcome their arrival. (*)
