TIMES SINGAPORE, SURABAYA – Surabaya has added a new gem to its growing list of eco-tourism destinations with the grand opening of the offroad track at Tahura (Taman Hutan Raya) Pakal’s Cemara Forest on Sunday (22/6/2025). Designed for thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike, this attraction promises a unique experience just outside the city’s urban hustle.

Mayor Eri Cahyadi inaugurated the site by test-driving a Jeep through the rugged trail himself. Joined by Rini Indriyani, Chair of the Surabaya PKK, he praised the track’s challenge and excitement.

“This route offers a whole new level of adrenaline. It’s far more thrilling than my first ride,” he said after finishing the course.

A Family-Friendly Offroad Escape

What sets this destination apart is its accessibility. Whether you're a seasoned offroader or a first-timer, the Cemara Forest track is built to welcome all levels of adventure. For beginners, the Indonesia Offroad Federation (IOF) Surabaya provides trained companions to ensure safety and enjoyment.

Complete facilities await every visitor—clean changing areas, restrooms, and even insurance coverage are included. After conquering the muddy trails, guests are treated to a hearty meal at the designated food area, which even allows open-air grilling.

“We want visitors to not just enjoy the ride, but also relax and spend time with family in nature,” said Mayor Eri.

Community-Powered, Government-Supported

The offroad attraction is a collaborative effort between the Surabaya city government and local communities, especially offroad enthusiasts. Management is handled directly by IOF Surabaya, in partnership with the city’s Food Security and Agriculture Office (DKPP).

“This project shows what happens when the community and government work together. Surabaya isn’t just shaped by policies, it’s built by its people,” Mayor Eri added.

Operation Details and Booking Info

According to DKPP head Antiek Sugiharti, the offroad park will officially operate on weekends and public holidays, from 8:00 a.m. until the late afternoon. Three sessions are available each day. Tickets can be purchased online via dkpp.surabaya.go.id/offroadhutancemarapakal.

Prices start at IDR 120,000 for those using their own offroad vehicles—pending IOF verification—and go up to IDR 235,000 for guests using the site’s Jeeps.
“There are two types of routes to choose from: a ‘Fun’ track for a relaxed ride, and an ‘Adventure’ route for those who want more intensity,” Antiek explained.

A Gateway to Nature and Local Culture

Beyond the offroad trails, visitors can explore the broader area of Tahura Pakal. The park offers scenic forest walks, local food vendors, and even camping facilities. Entrance to the park itself is just IDR 5,000 per person—making it a budget-friendly escape for families and tourists.

With its seamless blend of adventure, nature, and community involvement, the new offroad attraction at Cemara Forest is poised to become one of Surabaya’s most talked-about destinations. Whether you're looking for a heart-pounding ride or a peaceful forest retreat, Tahura Pakal delivers the best of both worlds. (*)
